Topic: Stockholm icoc Epilogue

RK has decided we need to explain a bit further one of the comments we made in our last addition to this thread.

We wrote:

"Plus the fact not one word has been yet been said, other than some after the fact amateur reportage on "jozan", speaks volumes that the ole icoc formula needs some desperate revamping..."

In every other field -- be it science; medicine; collecting stamps, coins or pet rocks -- after any conference, meeting or gathering -- especially one that is held every three or more years as is the case with the icoc -- there are a number of commentaries, stories and accounts published and publicized.

But in rugDUMB there is only the silence.

And this is the case not only for Stockholm.

Besides all the other problems, difficulties and warts on its face rugDUMB regrettably suffers, the inability, timidity and fear of making comments about itself is paramount.

Of course rugDUMB is not able to comment about itself as it is a concept.

But those who populate rugDUMB can, and the fact they don't is part and parcel of the disaster, and disastrous state rugDUMB is mired in.

Also here's a little tidbit of "news" RK heard about michael franses and his latest rug-biz hustle.

michael aka little lord(on the left) franses in action at the icoc

Seems the excitement RK hinted we overheard michael franses's pitching concerns his effort to "organize" a "big carpet fair" in Milan.

We have heard franses claims this fair will "resuscitate" the business and, as is the wont of all hustler pitchmen, his simple idea is the solution to a complex problem.

What a moron franses is. Who could possibly believe another rug dealer's fair will solve the epidemic of problems rugDUMB suffers?

But then again what to expect of a high-school dropout, one horse pony like franses, who is supposedly in "retirement" but has foolishly, or is it stupidly, bought back the controlling interest in his old project that rag hali.

That rag hali, like rugDUMB, is a sinking ship and now with franses back, or so he believes, at the helm RK can easily predict nothing will change and rugDUMB will continue to take on water and eventually sink even further than it has.

There are some bright lights on the horizon but for the forseeable future have your life raft and preserver handy...

Dr professor Walter Denny is a busy man -- RK knows well that Walter has many academic jobs to do and he has little free time for activities in rugDUMB.

However, when he throws his hat into the ring by publishing an "article" in that rag hali magazine, and what he writes becomes the subject of critical review, RK believes he has the responsibility to respond to his critic.

Also, the fact Denny verbally approved the purchase of dodds' bogus 'bellini' after being sent a color transparency by Dale Gluckman, the now disgraced and unemployed former curator at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, should impel him to either stay out of discussing non-classical rugs or, if he still feels he is capable and knowledgeable enough to do so, to involve himself in dealing with his critics.

As far as RK is concerned, the fact Denny recanted his opinion on the bogus 'bellini' after seeing it in person does not change the fact he blew it and originally thought it was a museum-worthy masterpiece from a good color photograph.

As RK has said before anyone with an expert's knowledge should have been able to immediately realize, even from a photograph, let alone a large transparency or digital one, dodds' 'bellini' was not a 16th century example, not a masterpiece of it genre, and surely not a museum-worthy object.

Also anyone who is familiar with the literature and published examples should have known dodds had been peddling the bogus 'bellini' for more than decade, and the rug itself had been peddled by the likes of firm Bausback and michael franses for at least another decade prior to that.

Let's all remember dodds got the rug from michael franses, who like Denny believed it to be something far better than it is and has been proven by RK to be.

The affair dodds and the bogus 'bellini' is both a huge stain on rugDUMB as well as the reputations of franses and Denny, not to mention the other two alleged rug experts, jon thompson and louise mackie, who also approved it for purchase when contacted by Gluckman and receiving large color pictures of it from her as well.

The Wolf's kelim is crap, a late and degenerate example of "village" weaving. It has no place in the pantheon of kelim champions, fact is it could not be their water-boy.

Dr Denny's article is full of superlatives but way deficient on facts to support them.

This is typical of rugDUMB; oh, so typical.

Furthermore, Denny's refusal to "discuss" his article demonstrates much, especially his desire to avoid looking even more "academically" foolish than he already does.

Let's all remember Denny believed dodds's bogus 'bellini' was real until RK clued him into the fact it wasn't and he had made a huge error.

Think we are lying? Go ask Denny.

'Nuff said or do we need to flesh this out further?
