Hot Button Issues
RK has decided to inaugurate this new Topic Area. We will from time to time post here what we feel are the most egregious happenings in RugDumb that demonstrate our firm belief something is wrong and dreadfully wrong in Rugdumb. Anyone is invited to post here, or on any of the other Topic Areas. However, RK once again warns those who believe they can use the anonymity only RugKazbah.com permits to slander or defame anyone or perpetrate demonstrably false agendas as truth that such activity will not be tolerated. |

BULLETIN
Certain recent happenings in rugDUMB suggest RK come out of retirement. The fiasco of the cancellation of St. Louis acor was the first, and to that we must now add "THE SAD AND REGRETTABLE STORY OF THE 'PROBLEMS' AT the WASHINGTON D.C. textile museum" Please note: as per our last post here in Spring 2008, which explained the decision for our retirement, we will never again post here to discuss other less significant issues, nor will we provide any more information about the types of historic carpets that interest us. |

War, Politics and the Election 2008
America is on the brink of change. Do we all want to see our Republic submerged in a New World Order? It is time for all Americans to educate themselves and in that regard we will post information here and hope others do as well. Remember: Those who refuse to fight for liberty will surely not have any. |

Best of RugKazbah.com
RugKazbah.com has been online for almost 7 years; in fact this May will be our 7th anniversary. During this period we have written hundreds, if not more, posts about historic Oriental Rugs and the rug scene in general. We recently decided to inaugurate this new Topic Area to highlight the best of them and will, from time to time, add ones we feel deserve to be so described. |

Stupidity in RugDumb
In this Topic Area RK will now highlight and critique examples of what we call Stupidity in RugDumb and believe us there are plenty of examples and persons to cite. And although RK has decided to confine ourselves to the most egregious and ridiculous sightings you can still expect to see some genuinely ludicrous citations as RugDumb's slide down the slippery slopes of stupidity, greed and idiocy accelerates daily. |

Fakes on the Market
We have decided to begin to post pictures of the most egregious examples of fake, reproduction rugs offered by sellers, both online and off, as genuine, antique rugs. |

dennis dodds
dodds is a cheat, a liar and should be run out of rugdom on a rail. His sale of a late period genre reproduction pseudo-"Bellini" rug to LACMA being the most apparent, and outrageous, of his capers. There are others but they pale in comparison to dodds's bamboozling a naive, trusting Los Angeles County Art Museum curator with a bill of goods even more bogus than the "Bellini" itself. RK has exposed, for all to see, dodds as the carpet-bagger and liar he is; now Rugdom needs to voice its disgust as well. |

JC'S Corner
What appear here are my ideas and opinions and I am solely responsible for them. I offer commentary, based both on factual research and extrapolated opinion, on all topics that encompass the rug world. This includes all aspects of investigation, both scholarly and other wise; those individuals involved in the business of buying and selling antique oriental rugs and, finally, all the other personalities that revolve in this universe. Unlike other commentators, my views are not colored by commercial interests or any other type of outside influence - there is no agenda save my own. |

Truth Hurts Department
The Rug World condones and even encourages drivel and misleading hype to masquerade as fact. RK.com's opposition to this situation should be no surprise to anyone and now in this Topic Area Rk.com and its readers can cite some of the more egregious past as well as present examples. Why? Because RK.com, and we are sure many others, feel it's time this ceased and by publicizing them and the perpetrators responsible perhaps things will change. |

Picture of the Day
While we do not expect to be posting a picture every day we will post them as often as time allows and, of course, we feel like it. These photos of rugs will come from books, auction catalogs, the web, etc. They will all be posted along with sometimes brief, or more complete comments that will demonstrate RK's belief RugDumb needs reminding the state of scholarship and knowledge is woefully deficient and even worse that Rugdumb is pathetically content with this state of affairs. |

Today's Chuckle
Whenever searching the net for oriental rug sites one can not help but notice the proliferation of them. Every day it seems a new one appears. Some have no aires and are straight-up commercial ventures but others not. It is these site which often have information of dubious nature or cloak their purely commercial purposes under the guise of education or other lofty virtues. Every once and a while some tidbit that appears on this type of site, while not intending to sound funny or be joke material, can't help but make anyone who is familiar with carpets laugh. We have started this topic area to corral some of those instances. |
